enthusiasts will feel right at home in the High
Country, as the area is a horse lover’s
paradise. Filled with backcountry NC horseback
riding trails and secluded paths that lead to
phenomenal views, you’ll love all of the
beautiful scenery that you can ride through.
There are several stable companies and farms in
the region that offer horse boarding on site, as
well as lessons and even private, guided
horseback riding tours if you do not currently
own your own horse. Many of the spots offering horseback
riding in NC are located on private lands near
the stables, be sure to contact them to learn more about these places.
Perhaps the best public NC horseback riding in
the Blue Ridge Mountains is just on the Blue Ridge
Parkway near Blowing Rock at the Moses H. Cone
and Julian Price Memorial Park location. This
area contains miles and miles of horseback
riding trails and carriage trails and takes you
through breathtaking scenery and around several
beautiful lakes. The Blowing Rock Equestrian
Preserve is located nearby and is also a nice
source for information on horseback riding in the area, and the host of the longest running charity horse show, the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show.
