Lees-McRae College
 Lees-McRae College, a four-year liberal arts institute, is nested in the Mountains of the High County near Banner Elk NC. Lees-McRae is a private institute that is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, and is located at the highest elevation of any college or university in the United States east of the Mississippi River. Lees-McRae’s campus extends over 400 acres in the High Country and features thirty buildings built from the native river rock. Lees-McRae is also one of the few colleges named after women, Suzanna Lees and Elizabeth McRae. Lees-McRae was founded in 1900.
Lees-McRae welcomes an enrollment of 900 students representing more than twenty states and countries. Seventy-five percent of the student population lives in traditional, on-campus residence halls. Lees-McRae offers in excess of twenty-five majors leading to both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees, and seventeen athletic teams that complete in the NCSS Division II in the Carolina Conference.
Lees-McRae offers many opportunities for students to engage in campus ministries. Campus Worship is held on a weekly basis on campus, that allowing students to worship through, singing, dance, message and shared prayer. Programs are also in place for Christian athletes and non-athletes weekly in the evenings. The McRae House and Peace Garden facilities provide students with a meeting place, or just a quiet location to enjoy a meal with friends. A World Religion Seminar offers students information about other religions with personal perspectives, while providing a warm meal for students.
